/// Postman alternative
A Postman alternative that turns requests into a test project you own
Postman is the default API client and, for many teams, the place API tests were born. The friction comes when those collections have to run reliably in CI, cover Kafka or gRPC, or stay off a vendor cloud. L3git builds the same requests point-and-click and generates a REST Assured project you keep.
Where Postman is strong
Postman is the most widely used API client in the world: superb for exploring and documenting APIs, collaborating in shared workspaces, and sharing collections. Its pricing changed in March 2026 (Solo, Team and Enterprise tiers at roughly $9, $19 and $49 per user per month at list), and the free tier is now single-user with a monthly run cap, which is what sends some teams looking for a test-automation-specific alternative. If your need is API exploration and docs, Postman remains hard to beat.
Where L3git differs
L3git is an API testing tool rather than an API client: assertions, variable chaining, data-driven runs, load tests, security scans, contract tests and service virtualisation, generated as a standard REST Assured + Cucumber project that runs in your CI with no cloud workspace, no run cap and nothing leaving your network.
- Code you own. Every request becomes a REST Assured step in a Maven project; no collection format, no runner to license.
- Unlimited runs in your own CI — no monthly collection-run cap and no per-user cloud workspace.
- Beyond REST: GraphQL, SOAP, WebSocket, Kafka (produce / consume) and gRPC via server reflection, in the same test.
- Load, security and contract testing included: ramp / SLA load runs, OWASP API Top 10 scans, Pact consumer and provider tests.
- Fully offline. Native Windows app; air-gapped keys make no outbound calls. Secrets stay in a gitignored local file and are never embedded in generated code.
- Imports Postman collections and OpenAPI specs, so existing work carries over.

Common questions
Does L3git replace Postman?
For API test automation in CI, yes. For day-to-day API exploration and documentation many teams keep Postman (or the free tier) and use L3git to build the tests that run in the pipeline. L3git imports Postman collections so nothing is lost.
Is L3git more expensive than Postman?
Per seat, yes: L3git API is $129 per user per month against Postman Team at roughly $19 (list, late 2026). The comparison is really seats versus runs: L3git is bought for the people who author tests, and the generated suite runs free at any volume. Postman prices every collaborator and meters runs on the free tier. Check both vendors' current pricing pages.
Can it test GraphQL and SOAP?
Yes - alongside REST, with the same assertions, variable chaining and environments. GraphQL queries and SOAP envelopes are first-class request types.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. The app runs offline; air-gapped keys make no network calls at all, and the generated tests only talk to the APIs you point them at.
Try it against your own app
The trial is the whole product for 14 days — no key to request, no card, no sales call. Point it at the application you are already testing and see what it generates.
