/// Selenium IDE alternative
A Selenium IDE alternative that records to a real Java project
Selenium IDE is where many teams start: free, record-and-replay, and it exports code. The limits show up when the exported code has to live in CI, survive UI changes and cover APIs too. L3git keeps the point-and-click workflow and produces a maintainable Cucumber + Selenium project with self-healing locators.
Where Selenium IDE is strong
Selenium IDE is free, open source, runs as a browser extension, and is the fastest way to prove that automation is possible on a page. Its code export covers several languages, and for small smoke suites maintained by one person it can be entirely adequate.
Where L3git differs
L3git is the step after the IDE: the same recording motion, but the output is a structured Maven project with page objects, Cucumber features, step definitions, a runner and CI files; locators heal themselves when the UI shifts; API, Kafka and gRPC steps mix with UI steps; and every page can be audited for Section 508 automatically.
- Real project, not a script dump. Page objects, step definitions and feature files you can read, review and extend.
- Self-healing locators keep tests running through id and layout changes instead of failing on the first rename.
- API steps in the same test — REST, GraphQL, SOAP, plus Kafka, gRPC and WebSocket.
- Section 508 audit of every page and visual regression, included.
- Native Windows app, no extension sandbox; runs offline and air-gapped; drives the IT-installed Edge.
- Still a 14-day free trial with no key, so the upgrade path costs nothing to evaluate.

Common questions
Can L3git import my Selenium IDE .side files?
No. L3git records its own steps; the recorder is fast enough that teams re-record rather than convert, and get page objects and self-healing in the process.
Is the generated code tied to L3git?
No. It is ordinary Java on Selenium, Cucumber and REST Assured in a standard Maven project. It runs with mvn test on any machine with JDK 17 and Maven, licence or not.
What does self-healing actually do?
When a recorded locator stops matching, the framework scores nearby candidates by attributes, text and position and picks the best match above a confidence threshold, logging the heal with a screenshot. Tests keep passing through routine UI churn and you fix locators on your schedule.
Is there a free version?
There is a 14-day trial of the full product with no key or card. After that it is $49 per user per month for the UI edition.
Try it against your own app
The trial is the whole product for 14 days — no key to request, no card, no sales call. Point it at the application you are already testing and see what it generates.
